Couples Counselling · Epping & Online

A space to talk.
Together.

Couples counselling in Epping with Lynda Dorbin, BACP registered counsellor. A safe, neutral space to improve communication, work through difficulties, and reconnect.

Relationships take work. Getting support is a sign of strength.

Every couple goes through difficult periods. Communication patterns that once worked stop working. Resentments build quietly. A significant event — infidelity, grief, illness, a new baby, redundancy — can shake even a solid relationship to its foundations.

Couples counselling provides a safe, neutral space where both of you can speak honestly, feel heard, and begin to understand each other differently. I don’t take sides. My role is to help you communicate more clearly, understand what’s really happening, and decide together what you want for your relationship.

Coming to counselling doesn’t mean your relationship is failing. Often, it’s the moment it starts to change.

Couples counselling can support you whether you’re hoping to repair and strengthen your relationship, or whether you need help navigating a major decision — including the painful process of separating.

Questions

Questions about couples counselling.

What issues does couples counselling help with?

Couples counselling can help with communication breakdown, recurring conflict, infidelity and trust issues, loss of intimacy, life transitions affecting the relationship, parenting disagreements, grief, and the general sense of having grown apart.

Do both partners need to attend every session?

Generally yes — couples sessions work best with both partners present. In some circumstances, individual sessions alongside couples work can be valuable, and we can discuss what would suit your situation best.

What if one of us doesn’t want to come?

It’s very common for one partner to be more hesitant than the other. Individual counselling may still be valuable if only one of you is ready to begin. Sometimes starting individually creates the space for both partners to engage over time.

Is couples counselling available online?

Yes. Sessions are available both in-person in Epping and online via Zoom. Online sessions work well for couples who prefer the comfort of their own home, or who have practical barriers to travelling.

How many sessions will we need?

This depends on the nature and history of what you’re working through. Some couples make real progress in 6–10 sessions; others prefer longer-term support. We’ll review how things are going regularly and work at a pace that suits you both. More about fees.
